The latest on Web Gallery Wizard 2.0

In case you were wondering, our newsletter has been inactive for the past few months while we've been working on the next major release of the program, version 2.0.

This new version will incorporate many of the feature requests we received from you. It will allow you to add audio and video, customize your gallery, integrate it easily into an existing site, include a shopping cart, and much, much more.

We are happy to report that we have achieved our first Beta milestone. We expect to make the new version available for our current customers before the end of the year. Look for further updates in the coming weeks.

TIPS

Planning to add a top menu bar?

Some users have contacted us after trying to use the top menu bar. It appears in the gallery preview, but mysteriously disappears once the gallery is uploaded.

You can avoid this issue by ensuring your Web browser is pointing to the correct location. The top menu bar is structured as a frameset. So, if your online gallery can be seen at an address like this:
http://www.mydomain.com/gallery/index.htm

Then your online gallery with the top menu bar can be found at:
http://www.mydomain.com/gallery/Top/default.htm

Creating an iframe

If you want to integrate your gallery into an existing site but have found our "top menu bar" implementation cumbersome, or if you want your custom gallery page to also be your Web site default page, then we have a better way.

This function is carried out using iframes, an HTML structure that enables you to display an HTML page within another page using an inline frame.(*) Click on the link below to find out more.

Changing a theme

If you require a specific look for your Web gallery, you can create a custom theme by modifying one of the existing themes. This enables you to incorporate specific branding elements such as logos and change gallery colors.(*)

Here are the steps required to change a theme.

(*) A note on editing files generated by Web Gallery Wizard

Implementing iframes and changing themes requires proficiency with HTML editing and possibly Flash, CSS and image editing. Please note that we do not provide technical support for any editing of the HTML files or the themes. Modify files at your own risk.

On a brighter note, the next version of Web Gallery Wizard will enable easier integration into existing Web sites. It will also include a theme editor so users can easily change the look of their galleries from within the wizard.
